What To Pack First When Moving

Moving is a big job, and it can be overwhelming. However, there are some things that you can do to make the experience easier. If you’re moving to a new location, you’ll want to pack everything carefully and safely. To help you get started, we’ve put together a list of what to pack first when moving.

At ProMove Transport, we recommend packing the less frequently used items first and then ending with the most used items. This will ensure that you have more room in your boxes for things you need to pack before moving.

The reason for this is simple. If you start with your most frequently used items, you won’t be able to finish your packing until all of them are packed. This might cause you to run out of time or leave some things behind in a rush.

When planning your move, the first thing you should do is get organized. This will help you keep track of all the moving details and ensure nothing gets lost in the shuffle. The key is to start early to have enough time to plan everything out.

ProMove Transport also recommends that each box should contain only one type of item (for example, clothes). This will help you keep track of everything and make unpacking easier.

Here is a list of what you should pack first:

  • Family photos and important documents
  • Clothes – Pack clothes that are not worn regularly first, such as formal wear or work uniforms. Seasonal clothing (winter clothes in summer)
  • Kitchen Items – Kitchen items like cookware, utensils and dishes are great to pack early on because they take up a lot of space in boxes when they are full of food residue or dirt from cooking. If these items aren’t packed first, they may not fit in any of your other boxes!
  • Books, CDs, DVDs and other media – Books are another item that takes up a lot of space in boxes when full, so it’s best to get them out of the way early on so they don’t weigh down other items later on packing.
  • Furniture – Furniture pieces like beds and couches tend to be bulky and heavy, so it’s best to move them last so they don’t weigh down other items.
  • Pack heavy items before other items that weigh less but take up more space like bedding or clothing.
  • If you are packing fragile items like glassware or China dishes, place them at the bottom of your boxes, so they do not get broken during transport by placing heavier objects on top of them.

Moving is a stressful experience, but it doesn’t have to be. We’ve put together a shortlist of things you can do to make your move easier on yourself and your budget. Once you’re ready to pack, there are some things that you should consider packing first and some things you should leave until last.

The order in which you pack your belongings is essential because it determines how efficiently your move will go. If you pack the less frequently used items first, then end with the most used items, it will help your movers quickly and efficiently get through the entire move quickly and efficiently.
